From Concept to Corner Landmark: How Andrew Burdett Design Created the SportsPay Branding

SportsPay's Toronto HQ

When SportsPay set out to build a modern payment platform dedicated exclusively to amateur sport, the company needed more than just a logo. It needed a brand that would convey trust, simplicity and professionalism while still feeling approachable to the volunteers, clubs and governing bodies that make community sport possible.

Andrew Burdett Design was commissioned to create the visual identity that would become SportsPay.

Creating the Brand

The objective was clear: create a clean, contemporary identity that would stand out in a crowded financial technology marketplace while remaining unmistakably connected to sport.

The solution was a simple, confident wordmark. The “Sports” element was designed in a bright, energetic blue, while “Pay” was enclosed within a darker blue panel to create emphasis and reinforce the company’s focus on payments. The result was a logo that was instantly recognisable and highly versatile across digital platforms, signage and printed materials.

The branding was carried through to the SportsPay website, marketing materials and customer communications, helping establish a consistent identity as the company expanded across Canada and the United States.

Bringing the Brand to Toronto

As SportsPay continued to grow, attention turned to the company’s Toronto headquarters.

Located on a prominent corner building, the office presented an opportunity to create a physical expression of the brand. Andrew Burdett Design developed a refreshed exterior treatment, replacing the original black paintwork with the deep blue used within the SportsPay logo.

The new livery transforms the building into a striking landmark. The rich blue detailing wraps around the entire façade, creating a sophisticated and distinctive presence while maintaining the character of the historic building.

Large frosted windows featuring the SportsPay logo complete the look, giving the office a clean and professional appearance that reflects the company’s commitment to innovation and customer service.

Building Recognition

Today, SportsPay is recognised as one of Canada’s leading payment solutions for amateur sport, supporting thousands of organisations with secure and streamlined payment processing. Its distinctive identity, developed by Andrew Burdett Design, has helped establish a strong and memorable presence in the marketplace.

From logo creation to environmental branding, the project demonstrates how thoughtful design can help turn a growing technology company into a recognisable and trusted brand.
